Statement of Faith

We believe:

1.   The Bible alone (which does
not include the Apocrypha) is the divinely inspired, inerrant Word of God that is, in its entirety, the sole authority for all matters of Christian belief and practice.

2.   The God of Israel is the One True God revealed as a Triune God in three persons of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  He is holy, eternal, and is to be worshipped as prescribed in Scripture.

3.   The Lord Jesus Christ: His deity, humanity, virgin birth, sinlessness, literal death and bodily resurrection and ascension; the atoning work of the Cross, the once-for-all perfect sacrifice of Jesus on behalf of mankind and that He will personally and visibly return again to earth at the 'Second Coming.'

4.   The personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, who is a 'He' and not an 'it,' for His work and ministry is always to lead people to the Lord Jesus Christ and He is not prayed to or worshipped
except in the context of the Tri-unity of the Godhead which contains the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

5.   We believe in salvation through the New Birth ('born-again') experience by repentance and faith (justification by faith) in Jesus alone, as the only provision for man's sin.  We believe that man is fallen and so is creation and the complete and total depravity of all men makes them hopelessly lost without the New Birth obtainable through faith in Jesus Christ alone for it is impossible for man to justify himself (by doing any 'good works') before a perfect God.  We hold that Jesus took our sin and gave us His righteousness and we must personally accept Him and remain faithful to Him on the basis of Scripture.  Our faith is demonstrated by works of righteousness by means of the in-filling of the Holy Spirit after we are saved, but the works play no part in gaining or keeping our salvation.

6.   We believe in a literal Heaven and Hell; in the eternal (everlasting) reward of the believer of life in the presence of God and the eternal judgement (everlasting punishment) of the unbeliever because of their unbelief. We believe that upon death the believer's spirit goes
immediately to be with the Lord (regardless of the degree of sanctification, or holiness of the individual) and it will subsequently receive a glorious resurrection body at His Coming, while the unbeliever does not go to Roman Catholicism's pagan Purgatory ('Limbus Patrum' & 'Limbus Infantum' are also errors), he is not annihilated ('soul sleep'), or reincarnation, but is immediately assigned to punishment in Hades until the Great White Throne judgement when unbelievers will be cast into the Lake of Fire for eternity.  There is no 'Conditional Immortality,' 'Second Chance,' or 'Post Mortem Evangelization'.

7.   The existence and personality of a literal Satan, his total opposition to God, his demonic forces and hosts and his power over the unregenerate as 'the god of this world' under the permit of the Eternal Father.  We believe in the Judgement of God upon wickedness and disobedience, and in the binding of Satan as a future event to be accomplished by the sovereign work of God.

8.   The Church is the Body of Christ, united in the Holy Spirit, consisting of those who have received Jesus Christ as Saviour (composed of 'born-again' believers).  A local church is an
autonomous organized assembly of believers united for the purpose of carrying out the Great Commission of Christ.

9.   The Great Commission of Christ is to preach the Gospel to all men, baptizing (by full immersion) the mature believer (we reject infant baptism as un-Scriptural and therefore unnecessary) and discipling those who have believed. We also hold that remembrance of Christ through the Lord's Supper is for believers only.

10.   We seek the unity of the Spirit with other Bible-based evangelical Christians, churches, and  ministries even where we may not share non-essential (minor) doctrines.  However we reject ecumenism or unity of any form with non-evangelical and un-Scriptural versions of Christianity, such as Roman Catholicism, the numerous
heresies prevalent in many denominations today, or with any having a different doctrine of salvation and a basis of doctrinal authority other than the Bible.

11.   We believe in the present-day work of the Holy Spirit in the Church and that His gifts and fruit are active in all generations until the Second Coming.  We believe the gifts of the Spirit, including charismatic gifts, continue to operate in the church but we reject any form of charismatic or Pentecostal extremism, which exhibits so many un-Scriptural phenomena and fruits, and totally reject any form of tradition-based or experiential theology.

12.   We believe that the Holy Spirit is calling out a Remnant people who will remain true to the Scriptures and faithful to God, and that this Remnant will be persecuted and abandoned by the great majority of religious people, who will continue to fall into error.  This Remnant will remain true to Biblical teachings and will not claim
any extra-Biblical 'Gnosis' (knowledge) - thus all mankind continues to have no excuse!

13.   God's prophetic plan for the salvation of the world is bound up with His prophetic plan for the re-gathering and salvation of Israel.  Gentiles who truly accept Jesus replace Jews who
reject Him.  These Gentiles are incorporated into Israel in a spiritual sense (ref.  Romans 11) and the church does not replace Israel in any form (British-Israelism as taught by some, including Elim Pentecostal sects, is heretical).

14.  We believe in the future fulfillment of every Biblical prophecy relating to Israel, the Church and the World and the Biblical recognition that the coming global kingdom of anti-Christ will ensnare much of the world including many 'believers.'

15.  We hold to a pre-millennium return of Christ at which time He will establish his millennium Kingdom on earth, and in the resurrection of the righteous to reign with Christ a thousand years.  God will create new Heavens and a new Earth so that none need fear for the continued and far-reaching affects of man's sinful pollution, although we recognise we were
always commanded to be a good stewards but sin polluted everything!

Keep about your work [that God has given you]. Do not flinch because the lion roars; do not stop to stone the devil's dogs: do not fool away your time chasing the devil's rabbits. Do your work. Let liars lie, let corporations resolve, let the devil do his worst: but see to it that nothing hinders you from fulfilling the work that God has given you.

He has not commanded you to get rich. He has never bidden you defend your character. He has not set you at work to contradict falsehood [about yourself] which Satan and his servants may start to peddle. lf you do those things, you will do nothing else: you will be at work for yourself and not for the Lord.

Keep at your work. Let your aim be as steady as a star. You may be assaulted, wronged, insulted, slandered, wounded and rejected: you may be abused by foes, forsaken by friends, and despised and rejected of men. But see to it with steadfast determination, with unfaltering zeal, that you pursue the great purpose of your life and object of your being until at last you can say, "I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do."

Origins of the Expositor

The Christian Expositor was begun by orthodox Christians who had experienced deception at close quarters through involvement in the cults.  The initial call of this ministry was to witness to the groups we had been 'saved out of.'   As the group grew in shared experiences, it became clear the Old & New Testament witness of repeated apostasy among believers was just as rife in the contemporary church.  Over 20 years of experience witnessed the chaos brought into many orthodox churches through infiltration of heresies which originate in cults, the occult and 'New Age Movement' - and plain old idolatry and resultant loss of holiness!  Many of the articles on this Web-site were first circulated in Britain in the 'Direction' newsletter.  This title was originally chosen to emphasise the nature of our enquiries - simply to ask people which 'Direction'  their life is heading?  We have dropped this title since the name 'Direction' was  usurped by the Elim Pentecostal denominations' magazine - for we have no wish to be associated with a group which supports errors such as the so-called Toronto/Pensacola/Brownsville/Sunderland 'Revivals' and the heretics of the 'Word-Faith' cult.

We hope  the  questions raised in these pages will cause readers  to  examine the reasons for their faith, (1 Peter  3v15-16  &  2  Timothy  2v15), the faith of others, and that a  fair-minded  dialogue  will be possible with any who profess the religions discussed.

If you read the opening articles on the Mormons  and  Jehovah's  Witnesses, you will find that we have their leaders' recommendation, in writing, to examine their beliefs.  We invite all believers in the faiths we examine to answer the questions which we have asked within these articles.  We do, of course, reserve the right to comment  on any replies.  If  we do not include your reply please do not assume that we  have received  it  - the  postal service isn't infallible and neither is e-mail. Please clarify by contacting us at the address shown if you are in any doubt. ALL correspondence will be acknowledged
if you enclose an e-mail address, and we will endeavour to find time and space to reply.

In all of our years of corresponding with other religions we have rarely found that people will honestly debate with us.  Most rely on a bigoted diatribe with few facts - and even fewer that they have really checked out.   We hope you recognise that we have concentrated on commenting on the leaders of these religions - we try to minimise personal comments to those of a Biblical nature, and are well aware that others have equal zeal for their beliefs, but we believe the apostle Paul was inspired by God to write:

For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not in accordance with knowledge. (Romans 10:2)

We only question the reason for people to hold faith in these other religions, for we have researched them thoroughly and find that the truth has not been told from the very inception of the teaching.  The Bible makes it very clear to us that
everyone is capable of being deceived.  No man or woman is infallible, but we are certain that the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit ARE One Infallible God who will lead us into the whole truth!

In case you accuse us of wearing blinkers, we ask that you peruse the whole of this site, for you will find that we strive to be equally honest about the failures of the Christian church - although these in no way nullify the teachings of the Bible which predicted these events over 2,000 years ago!

Also bear in mind that many groups that
you may consider 'Christian' are really in error - as we prove here by comparing their teachings to Biblical truth (e.g. see the section on Ecumenism and the Roman Catholic Church).

On the next page we include a reproduction of the material forming the main tracts we have circulated in Cardiff for some years.  We have made them as comprehensive as possible - but it is obviously impossible for us to include all false teachings and religions on one sheet of A4 paper!

After these tracts we include some stereotypical responses from people who have written in 'reply' to our work.  The nature of the replies shows how people will unfailingly react through emotions and feelings first, but a few attempt to reason using the logic they have been trained to use by their leaders.  Others rely on the mocking approach.  But it is very hard to find a single Biblically sound argument among them!
